Hi Ted, thanks for the comment.

There are no legal problems that I'm aware of regarding caching (I'd be shocked if there were), but this feature doesn't exist mainly because I haven't had the time to implement it. It would be fairly easy, just a matter of finding the time.

I was only planning to support this single level though, just for simplicity's sake. It's the one that I personally use most frequently so that's how I ended up there.

If you are aware of any devs who'd like to contribute, please let me know.

I did some experimenting after reading the MSRMaps query info, trying to display different resolutions of the map, but I was unsuccessful. Are we restricted to a single resolution?

If I can get this to return views at different zooms (which is necessary for many purposes), then it could be used for a large number of cool spots. However, if I were going to use this to enhance discussions of many topographic subjects, I would want to cache the map-image locally, so that MSRMaps is accessed for it only once.

Are there known legal problems (or permissions) with caching the map image we get from MSRMaps? I know these data originate from the (public) USGS, but perhaps MSRMaps obtains a proprietary claim by processing the images, etc. Can we freely cache the topo images?

That's great. If you end up writing some code, I'd be happy to put it into the codebase. By the way, I'm hoping to launch a fundraising project soon so we can add support to many more third party plugins.

@Jared, @John B., @Admin,

I, too, am using Cimy User Extra Fields and need to sync some extra fields from Wordpress to MailChimp. I will be looking at the code over the next couple of days, trying to figure out how much work it will be. If anyone else would like to join me, please contact me: jcarroll@massagenet.org

Cheers,
James

No, there's no support for this right now, but it's not a bad idea. Gonna add it to the list. Thanks.

This is probably a long shot, but is there anyway to allow a user to opt in/out from getting signed up to mailchimp? Say if my wordpress user registration form has a checkbox? I'd rather not them be bothered by a mailchimp confirmation email if they don't want to be a part of the newsletter.

ahh.. figured out the problem .. i'm not using the standard database table prefix ("wp_") .. i've changed this as suggested by certain security/hardening techniques

i was able to solve my buddypress issues by changing all database queries that reference tables with the "wp_" prefix to my custom prefix

thought this might be helpful for others who've done the same .. would it be possible to add a fix to this in future versions of the plugin?

thanks - works great now!

basically after you select "Automatically Sync BuddyPress Profile Fields with MailChimp." nothing appears where it says "use the following table..."
